Essential Pre-installed Software
Each participant will need to bring a laptop computer with wireless-internet capabilities. Software needed for the hands-on workshop tutorials will be made available on this page approximately two weeks before the conference begins. We strongly encourage you to install and test this software prior to arriving at the meeting.
JANA 2006 should be downloaded and installed from ftp://pc111.fzu.cz, which includes installation files and instructions specific to our workshop.
FULLPROF should normally be downloaded and installed from www.ill.eu/sites/fullprof/, where you can also find detailed descriptions and documentation. But for the workshop, you should download the special updated version linked here.
TOPAS Academic (TA) version 5 is a commercial structure-refinement package, which can be purchased, downloaded, and installed from www.topas-academic.net. Special hands-on tutorial exercises will be available for TA v5 users. But these exercises will also be presented as demonstrations.
The Bilbao Crystallographic Server (BCS) site at www.cryst.ehu.es/ consists of online resources which do not require download. But you are encouraged to install the latest versions of VESTA (jp-minerals.org/vesta/) and Jmol (jmol.sourceforge.net/) visualization programs. For Jmol, install the latest version available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/jmol/files/.
ISODISTORT and ISOCIF are online resources at iso.byu.edu, which do not require installation, though you are encouraged to install the ISOVIZ and ISOVIZQ visualization packages.
